The concept for the Career Club stems from my own path to manifest success. I did everything “right” to set myself up--took all the classes, did several (unpaid) internships, joined the clubs + societies. But still, the professional world was so different. Despite all of the information out there and the post-Lean In era we’re lucky to live in, I still felt like I was on my own to figure out a lot of stuff.
Like, how do you manage client relationships, nail a presentation in front of your team or create boundaries so you don't burnout? And the PR & marketing industries are unique on top of that. They move so quickly, and I saw first-hand that even the most well-intentioned leaders (ME included when I started leading a team) just didn’t have the time they want to train and mentor.
Despite the crazy day-to-day, I was determined to find the success I wanted--more money, more responsibilities, overcoming challenges and being the best me I could be. I did it by piecing classes, books, podcasts and seminars together to learn persuasion skills, how to close deals, keep clients happy, navigate office politics, manage intricate projects and more. It was well worth it, but cost thousands of dollars of my own money and countless hours as I combed through a lot of info.
I always thought there had to be a better way. And then one evening as I was stepping away on the stair climber at the gym, it hit me. “What if we could have a gym membership for our careers?” All of the information, community and mentorship that we need to keep our careers healthy in an easy membership form. And that is where the idea for the Career Club came from.
We all invest in our overall health + wellness by joining a gym (or even buying running shoes to run outside!). But we’re not investing consistently into the source of our livelihood--our careers.
So, say hello to the Career Club, designed to keep our career + mind healthy.
